Only member-givers of 100+ Women Who Care Door County in good standing are eligible to nominate a nonprofit.
Nonprofits must:
Be a non-profit organization whose mission includes serving Northern Door, Washington Island and Sturgeon Bay Communities.
Our intention is to support the community in a manner that respects the various political and religious differences among the 100+ Women Who Care members. Political and directly religious organizations are not eligible for nomination. However organizations providing direct outreach for humanitarian efforts for the community such as a church run food pantry would be eligible for nomination. Furthermore, the Board of Directors at their discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any nonprofit that will divide rather than bring our members together based on political or religious beliefs.
Demonstrate how the money they receive from 100+ Women Who Care Door County will serve the Northern Door, Washington Island or Sturgeon Bay Communities.
Granting organizations must state at the time of being pulled out of the hat what nonprofit organization they will grant the money to.
Be a non-profit recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organization.
Be actively engaged in the community and executing their mission statement.
Agree to not solicit our members based on their donations through 100+ WWC Door County.
The goal of 100+ Women Who Care Door County is to make a meaningful contribution to the Northern Door, Washington Island or Sturgeon Bay Communities. When considering a nonprofit to nominate, we encourage you to focus on how the nonprofit is making a difference in our local community. For example, ask yourself:
What is the organization doing to make our community a better place?
How many people, animals, etc. can be helped and how much will those lives will be improved by a $5,000 - $10,000 donation? Note: Our quarterly donation is based on current membership numbers.
How effective is the organization in achieving its mission? Does the organization have:
defined, measurable goals and objectives in place;
a defined process in place to evaluate the success and impact of its program(s); and;
a strategic plan in place to fulfill the goals and objectives of the organization?
In addition:
National or international nonprofits, programs or organizations will not be considered at this time as the focus is on contributing to our local community. Organizations with a national link may be nominated provided the request is for a project serving the Northern Door, Washington Island, or Sturgeon Bay Communities. The funds must stay in our community.
Member-givers may have one active nonprofit nomination at any point in time. Member-givers may delegate another 100+WWC member to present at the giving circle meeting.
If two (2) member-givers submit the same nonprofit for consideration, the member submitting the nonprofit first will have that nonprofit on record and have the opportunity to present on behalf of that organization.
If multiple member-givers submit the same nonprofit for consideration, they will have two (2) options. 1) Nominate a different nonprofit. 2) Acknowledge that the member submitting the nonprofit first will have the opportunity to present on behalf of that organization. If that member is not present at a meeting and the nonprofit is drawn, additional members attached to the nonprofit will have the opportunity to present.
“Back in the Hat” - Nonprofits that have received an award are taken out of the drawing for a period to give other nonprofits more of an opportunity to receive an award. They are added “Back in the Hat” after 12 Giving Events.
The process for determining the award amounts in the event of a tie for the Main Award is as follows:
Award - The sum of the Main Award plus one Runner Up award (75% of total awards for the event) will be split 50/50 between the nonprofit organizations that tie for the Main Award.
Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation (RSMFF) matching grant - If both of the tied nonprofit organizations meet the criteria to apply for the matching grant (match is 100% up to $5,000), then we will have a post meeting online ballot to determine which organization will have the opportunity to apply for the matching grant as we are only allowed to submit one organization per quarter.
